We currently have 2 exciting opportunities within Nationwide Platforms as a Technical Trainer. As Technical Trainer you will be working with the Technical Trainer team covering the South area.

As a Technical Trainer you will be responsible for technical skills development covering Nationwide Platforms fleet, specifically MEWP's, Truck and Van Mounted equipment, Tracked Booms and BlueSky products for engineers in the UK and occasionally nationally. Frequent travel is involved (approximately three days each week) and dependent on home location including overnight stays. The engineering side of the business is highly reactive, so a flexible, adaptable, resilient character is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will be developed to be able to teach the following:Delivery of Specialist Vehicle and MEWP courses including.PDI/PHIL-Vis: Stock and Parts, Workshop Scheduling and Smartphone applicationsBlueSky ExpertIntroduction to Basic Electrics & Hydraulics, Reading & Understanding SchematicsAdvanced Fault Finding: Electrical systems, Hydraulic systemsAccreditation for Manufacturer Training Courses
  • Development and maintenance of courseware ensuring it stays current
  • Delivery of a minimum of 100 Training Days in a full calendar year (face to face, virtual and online).
  • Additional development and stakeholder consultancy days will be agreed and measured
  • Ambassador for the company with high integrity, respect for others. A role model for safe working and uncompromising standards, drives QHSE compliance, embeds behavioural safety
  • Project manage the completion of small training programmes
  • Plan and execute Train the Trainer (TtT) sessions where applicable
  • Prepare training with risk assessments for classroom and practical facilities
  • Conduct tests/assessments to required standard with accurate, legible completion of all relevant paperwork
  • Undertake training courses as requested and work towards relevant qualifications e.g., NVQ Assessors.
  • Qualifications, CAP, manufacturer qualifications where applicable


As part of this job role the company will provide training and qualification to Level 3 Education and Training (PTLLS), so there is a requirement for the role holder to complete all necessary development activities, formal and informal and to play a highly active role in attaining the qualification. This will form part of your career journey and upon successful qualification as an IPAF Instructor, the seniority level for the role will be moved from Band 3 to Band 4.

  • A base level of formal qualification in an aligned area e.g.; Heavy plant and equipment maintenance,
  • Heavy vehicle maintenance and repair or equivalent
  • Good interpersonal skills, able to deal with people at all levels with an engaging and cheerful style
  • An open and inquisitive approach to work, prepared to think outside of the box, adaptable and responsive
  • Able to deal with ambiguity and change, resilient, strong work ethic
  • Extensive experience of Powered Access Engineering with relevant qualifications and manufacturer training
  • Well organised with effective self management and time management skills
  • A high standard of literacy & Numeracy
  • Comfortable working at height
  • Good Microsoft Office skills; Writing PowerPoint presentations and Participant handouts using Word
  • Full UK Driving Licence
