Senior Procurement Specialist Materials & Operations Planning

Reporting to the Procurement Manager you will be the Procurement champion on assigned new product and renovation projects. You will work with a variety of Corporate Departments and the Plant Procurement team to ensure supply of packaging and ingredients supporting all new product launches.

  • Work with Transportation Procurement, Enterprise Procurement, Platform Operations, Platform S&OP, Production Facilities/ Co-Packers, Marketing and Suppliers to mitigate supply risks and limit loss related to non-finished goods inventory levels. 

  • Provide procurement representation on assigned NPI, re-stage, CCR, and improvement projects to ensure successful and on-time implementation.

  • Support assigned plants to resolve material supply risks.

  • Forecast and reduce obsolescence.

  • Guide consistency across plants as it relates to best practices in raw material procurement and supplier relationships.

  • Ensure implementation of Enterprise Procurement projects within assigned brands/plants (co-packers). Guide data gathering and risk/reward analysis as required on purchasing bids and specification change initiatives.

  • Communicate new business activity to Enterprise Procurement to ensure competitive pricing for all new cost inputs.

  • Improve supplier performance and cost control projects for assigned brands/locations through working with Category Managers and Suppliers to shorten material lead times and develop "innovation" focus.

  • Guide efforts with the Procurement team and Plant Procurement team to assure supply of packaging and ingredients and identify alternate specification opportunities.

  • Help implement and streamline the supply chain process across the organization. Focusing on plant level requirement system improvements.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree is required; supply chain management coursework/certification.

  • 3 or more years' experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or Sales roles

  • Project management

  • Develop strategies and take them through implementation.

  • Understanding of economics, technical issues, and value analysis

  • Limited travel of less than 25%

  • Overall plant operations/marketplace knowledge

  • Familiarity with e-procurement technologies and systems integration.

  • Demonstrated understanding of material requirements planning.

  • Excel (can perform complex functions) , Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
