The University of Maryland Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center (UMGCCC) is recruiting for a Sr. Financial & Budget Analyst to handle clinical trials receivable and payable functionality, which mainly includes review and payment of study-related FPI and hospital bills. This is a partial-remote position. The UMGCCC is a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center which conducts innovative basic and clinical research that will impact the understanding and treatment of cancer around the world and seeks to provide state-of-the-art clinical care to cancer patients in Maryland and beyond. Private, foundation, and government sponsors provide funding to the Cancer Center to provide medical research treatment to cancer patients. Primary Duties: Under limited supervision, and with latitude for initiative and independent judgement, reviews vendor invoices and approves charges that are consistent with research related activities, coverage analysis and budget. Serves as liaison with the investigators, research teams, healthcare providers, budgeting and contracting offices at UMMS and UMB. Acts as the intermediary between the vendor and the study team during investigation of disputed charges. Works with sponsors on reimbursement for research related injury treatment and other ad-hoc research activities. Responsible for smooth and timely processing of billing and payment for pass-through research activities and resolving any related issues. Reviews and resolves invoice discrepancies with the vendor and the study teams Other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements: Bachelors degree in Healthcare Administration, Medical Coding, Auditing, Finance, Accounting, Nursing, or a related field required. Five (5) years of experience in financial analysis, management accounting, budgeting and forecasting, data management and analysis. Preferred: Previous experience working in clinical research. Knowledge of principles and practices pertaining to clinical trial administration in compliance with sponsor, federal, state, UMMS and UMB regulations. Experienced with electronic administration software such as OnCore, Epic, etc. Highly effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary in dealing with a variety of healthcare and finance professionals including senior management staff. Organizational and problem-solving skills are required to develop/implement efficient work processes. Ability to work independently and effectively in a stressful work environment.
