This position is responsible for directing the day-to-day functions of the aides, orderlies and nursing staff, as well as give direct nursing care to patients. This position is also responsible for planning, organizing, developing and directing the education programs for facility staff in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, and in conjunction with policies and procedures established by the facility.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
To perform this job, an individual must accomplish each essential function satisfactorily, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Assist nurse management with day-to-day compliance rounds
Monitor admission and re-admission charts for weekly weights
Audit physician's orders to ensure compliance with medication
Direct the day-to-day functions of nursing aides and nursing staff
Give direct nursing care to patients
Visit all assigned patients at regular intervals during tour of duty
Supervise feeding of patients as necessary
Notify physician when patient's condition warrants
Perform administrative duties such as documenting of:
o Nurses' notes
o Doctors' orders
o Discharge plans
o Dietary changes
o Billing and other charge slips
o Miscellaneous forms, charts, etc.
Chart pertinent facts and information in a professional, clear and comprehensive manner
Admit, transfer and discharge patients according to policy
Recognize and respond to changes in patients' conditions and document observations, interventions and outcomes
Order from pharmacy, prepare and administer medications as ordered by physician
Ensure physicians sign off on all verbal orders; document process
Conduct and/or monitor prescribed treatments, such as dressing changes, drawing of blood, catheter changes, NG tube insertion and removal, laboratory work, etc.
Provide and obtain condition reports from other shifts
Monitor and update care plans on each shift as appropriate
Perform emergency procedures such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and in the event of death, notify family and other appropriate parties
Maintain records of patient accidents and incidents; provide training to reduce occurrences
Participate in monthly and quarterly infection control, safety and quality assurance meetings
Recognize, intervene and report accidents and incidents when they occur
Participate in surveys requested by authorized government agencies
Supervise and participate disaster drills; be prepared to carry out duties in the event of an actual catastrophe
Recognize, intervene and/or report complaints and grievances from patients, families, visitors and employees
Maintain privacy and confidentiality of records, conditions and other information relating to patients, employees and facility
Follow established universal precautions and isolation procedures
Update daily census report and submit as required
Perform inventory; request equipment, supplies, etc.
Assist in updates of written policies and procedures of routine nursing care
Admit, transfer and discharge patients
Monitor and participate in daily clean-up of the nurses' station
Other duties as assigned
Successful completion of required training

Position may require flexible hours, unscheduled overtime or occasional week-end work
Some travel may be required
Required Computer Software/Equipment used:
Ability to learn HRIS and/or scheduling systems
Standard Office Equipment
Microsoft Office Applications
o Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing for Registered Nurse
o 6 months' experience preferred
o Current State RN license
o Current CPR Certification
Organize workflow; ensure employees understand their duties or delegated tasks.
Monitor employee productivity; provide constructive feedback and coaching
Maintain staff by orienting and training employees
May be required to provide training and advice to facilities
Occasionally needs manager's direction due to extraordinary circumstances

Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing and pulling
