Our client in Wytheville, VA is in immediate need of a Process Engineer. This position will be the primary technical resource to support production as we strive to improve safety, quality, efficiency, customer satisfaction, and financial results. Lead process improvement and problem-solving efforts. Initiate CAPEX projects and manage through to completion.

Role and Responsibilities:

Provide day-to-day leadership in process areas.
Champion and execute the development and implementation of projects, improvement plans and initiatives using RCA, Green belt, Six Sigma, SPC, DOEs and process capability studies.
Manage various construction and equipment projects as required and work directly with contractors in overseeing repairs/installation equipment.
Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
Analyze and plan space requirements, workflow, and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
Act as the technical expert for assigned process areas, as a resource to production, maintenance, engineering, quality, sales and customers.
Be the process owner, responsible for the technical performance of the department.
Drive the optimization and troubleshooting of the production processes, including StableOps efforts. Troubleshoot processes, quality issues and customer returns.
Lead capital projects that enhance the efficiency, productivity, and safety of the production department.
Champion the development of the capital plan for assigned production areas, provide justification for recommended projects. Personally manage multiple capital projects.
Assist in the development of new products as needed by customers, and conduct experiments for process improvement.
Provide training and documentation (ISO documentation, etc.) on new processes as well as updates to current processes.
Perform machine and process design for new and existing lines.
Responsible for project management (justification, design, implementation).
Manage assigned capital projects, including qualification and selection of vendors and contractors, supervision of work, and approval of payments for invoices.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or Plastics Engineering
3 years minimum engineering experience related to manufacturing equipment and process improvements in an industrial environment.
Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Word, Project and ability and willingness to learn other software.
Outstanding communication (oral and written) skills as well as consensus building skills
Familiarity with Minitab, problem solving skills with exposure to DOE, 5-Why Analysis, Lean Green Belt, DMAIC skills, FMEA, feasibility and control plan development.
Previous leadership roles.
Time management skills and ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects.
Financial understanding.
