Payroll Tax and Compliance Specialist

The Payroll Tax and Compliance Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the organization s ongoing compliance with federal, state and local tax and wage order processing. The position is responsible for duties related to monitoring, managing and reconciling payroll taxes at the employer and employee level as well as other payroll responsibilities. Duties include carrying out research and evaluating or settling complicated technical issues or queries forwarded by employees, department personnel and external tax filing vendor. The position provides exceptional customer service to employees regarding payroll tax and wage order related inquiries.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

Principal liaison with third party tax filing vendor.
Registration with taxing agencies in a timely manner and communicate tax agencies additions or changes to tax filing service.
Determine accuracy of new tax situation set up for new work location set up in payroll software.
Review local tax set-ups in the payroll system for employees in states with local taxes.
Assist with the resolution of issues and/or questions with regard to employee and location taxation set up.
Complete wage adjustments in payroll system
Work with tax filing vendor to resolve tax notices
Maintenance of employee non-voluntary deductions including child support, levies, bankruptcies and garnishments
Provide support team members as needed regarding employee tax and wage orders.
Perform weekly reconciliation of payroll tax and wage order balancing.
Perform quarterly and annual tax reconciliations.
Assist with W-2 reconciliation.
Stay current on federal, state, and local taxing regulations
Stay current on laws pertaining to child support, levies, bankruptcies and garnishments
Qualifications:
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor s degree in Finance or Accounting preferred
3-5 years experience with multi state payroll tax filings and compliance concerns
Experience with UKG Payroll and UKG Payment Services is a plus
The capability to function well under pressure and bring out the desired results
Excellent communication skills with ability work collaboratively with clients, employees, and management across multiple departments
