Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.

Assists patients with activities of daily living, i.e. bathing, dressing, skin care, positioning, feeding, ambulation, toileting and range of motion activities. Documents/communicates care per unit protocols.

Assists with environmental services support such as linen management, trash removal, and cleaning patient rooms as needed.

Assists with transport of patients, specimens, equipment and supplies as appropriate.

Communicates changes in the patient's condition and family concerns to the licensed nurse. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.

Maintains an active surveillance of the nursing unit to observe and meet patient needs.

Obtains patient data accurately and documents information (vital signs, etc.).

Performs basic patient care procedures as defined in unit-based competency orientation (thermal applications, non-sterile soaks, application of simple dressings, perineal care, and Point of Care Laboratory waived testing, to include but not limited to glucose and urine testing, etc.).

Reports actual and potential problems concerning patients, families, staff and their departments to the Registered Nurse. Responds to questions from patient, families and significant others in a prompt, courteous, positive manger, referring them to appropriate personnel if necessary.

Performs other duties as assigned. Maintains Clinical ladder requirements as appropriate.
