The Enterprise Information Architecture team is responsible for driving modern information design and data management supporting GMs digital transformation. The team supports cross-functional business initiatives by leading and participating in information strategy development, information architecture design, and defining and organizing enterprise information through best practices in information modeling, taxonomy, and controlled vocabulary development.

Enterprise Information at GM is defined as any data that has been curated, derived, or enhanced in accordance with the Enterprise Entity Model and has been put in context of our Enterprise Information Strategies. As a strategic leader and cross functional team member, the Senior Enterprise Information Architect is responsible for unlocking the enterprise value of GMs data thru the development of information strategies and associated reference architectures and articulating modern data design, governance, and movement principles.

This role is an opportunity to apply your passion for data with the art of information design and enterprise architecture, underpinning GMs Growth Strategy and strategic business initiatives supporting B2B and B2C innovation.

Create Enterprise Information Strategies
  • Establish strong working relationships with business and technology leaders to influence and implement the Enterprise Information Architecture framework and strategies
  • Facilitate meetings with business subject matter experts, decision makers, systems owners, and end users to define goals and information requirements
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into high level information architecture designs based on best practices
  • Analyze data to capture requirements clearly, completely, and correctly while, at the same time, representing them in a formal and visual way through concept models
  • Clearly articulate rationale for design decisions to various stakeholders, building consensus
  • Identify, document, and govern interfaces between domains in the GM Enterprise Information Architecture
  • Drive the notion of reusable Information Assets and promote data as an asset
  • Develop and recommend new concepts, technologies, services, processes, or products to address future client and/or customer requirements within information, data, and analytics
  • Drive the notion of reusable architecture assets & standards such as current-state business/technology capability maps as well as future state planning roadmaps
Steward the Enterprise Entity Model
  • Ensure concepts, business relationships, associations, and semantics (language) are effectively represented to facilitate business communication
  • Identify and enforce necessary governance connections within and across domains
  • Participate in enterprise-wide domain governance groups
  • Enforce the Enterprise Information Strategy via the Information Architecture Review Board
Support Data Delivery
  • Proactively identify and solve the most complex problems that impact the management and direction of the Enterprise Information Architecture and associated domain strategies
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify relevant data to be included in a domains Information Architecture
Provide Technical and Thought Leadership to IA Team
  • Develop enterprise-wide standards and best practices for development of domain level information architectures and associated strategies
  • Stay current with industry trends and introduce these best practices to the company
  • Communicate, evangelize, and influence GMs strategic direction by emphasizing information-driven design
Additional Job Description

Minimum Skills / Experience / Education
  • BA (or 5-7 years equivalency) in Information Systems Design, Computer Science, Data Governance, Data Management, or related field
  • 5 years + of leadership (formal/informal) experience
  • Demonstrated experience in Data or Information Architecture
  • Understanding of common data implantation methods (e.g., logical and physical models, and common implementation technology platforms such as Hadoop, Greenplum, Teradata, Essbase, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate with leadership in written, presentation, or ad-hoc verbal formats
  • Able to work independently
  • Able to work remotely
Preferred Skills / Experience / Education
  • MS (or 7-10 years equivalency) in Information Systems Design, Computer Science, Data Governance, Data Management, or related field
  • Deep understanding of GM business from end to end, ability to recognize and account for critical conceptual points of integration
  • Familiar with TOGAF and/or other Enterprise Architecture methods
  • Certification(s) in Business and/or Information Architecture (TOGAF, DODAF, Business Architecture Guild, or other relevant certifications)
  • Deep understanding of IT data implantation methods (e.g., logical and physical models, implementation technologies, such as Hadoop, Greenplum, Teradata, Essbase, etc.)
Compensation: The median level of salary compensation for this role is $115,000.

Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
