Position summary:

The Flight Test Operations Officer is responsible for carrying out acceptance ground testing (static checks, engine runs and taxi checks) and cabin tests during flights. Working closely with the Flight Test Engineer (FTE), the Flight Test Operations Officer reviews the aircraft technical status during the overall ground and flight activities, and decides if the aircraft is suitable for operation within his scope of responsibility.

Essential Functions:
  • Performs ground tests (APU & engines depreservation, high power engine runs, taxis, compass swing) during production phase.
  • Prepares and performs the Rejected Take Off (RTO) with a test pilot.
  • Performs the cabin tests in flight.
  • Ensures the cabin safety during flight.
  • Performs the ground tests with the customers during delivery phase.
  • Attends The Handover meeting from Flowline to Flightline (FOT) to issue the flight conditions and the Handover between the production and delivery phase, setting the aircraft technical criteria to be met for the customer delivery phase.
  • Discuss with the customers the status of the technical items and aircraft test requirements throughout the delivery phase.

Qualification/Basic Job Requirements:
  • Knowledge of Airbus aircraft systems, preferred
  • 5 years' experience as flight crew
  • Strong communication skills

Education/Special Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering/Aeronautics or 5 years working in a technical department for an aviation company.
  • Flight crew medical (FAA class II)
  • FAA-A & P license or T1&T2 Airbus Single Aisle Family (SA) or EASA Part 66 B1&B2 on SA.

Minimum of 6 months abroad is required

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
  • Vision: Adequate to enter and read material on computer screens. Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions and other business interactions.
  • Hearing: Able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings. Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.
  • Speaking: Able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.
  • Equipment Operation: Able to operate a wide range of personal and office electronic equipment. Working on jigs at fuselage at a height of 15 feet. Able to work on hydraulic lifts sometimes at a height of up to 40 feet.
  • Carrying: Able to occasionally carry up to 20lbs/9kg which engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects.
  • Lifting: Able to occasionally lift up to 20lbs/9kg.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Able to push/pull items in office areas.
  • Sitting: Able to sit for extended periods of time at computer and in meetings.
  • Squatting/Kneeling: Able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves. Able to work outside hangers in changing locations. Able to work on movable lifts at the aircraft at a height of approximately 40 ft. Sometimes may work in a ventilated fuel tank with a mask in a confined space. Able to enter a with through a 9.8 by 17.7 inch oval opening.
  • Standing: Able to stand for extended periods of time delivering information.
  • Travel: able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time.
  • Walking: Able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor and/or outdoor surfaces.
