Under the leadership of the EH&S Manager, the EH&S Technician will support efforts towards providing a safe and healthy working environment for all employees. He/she will support the implementation of safety and environmental improvement projects/systems to eliminate safety hazards, risks, and injuries while helping to ensure employees are educated on safe work conditions, practices, and requirements. Position will also be involved in safety training and investigations. They will help ensure safety hazards are identified and eliminated in the plant. Position will also support Preventative Maintenance initiatives on safety equipment and environmental control mechanisms along with other routine Maintenance responsibilities.

  • Assists in compliance reviews, general risk assessments and other safety assessments
  • Conducts audits of the facility to verify compliance, identify unsafe conditions, and eliminate safety hazards
  • Addresses safety concerns from aisle audits
  • Educates, monitors, and trains personnel in safe work procedures regarding PIV's
  • Ensures safety equipment is always used
  • Labels designated hazardous zones
  • Conducts safety meetings and training as needed
  • Assists with and conducts New Hire Orientation and site tours
  • Identifies and reports all near misses
  • Completes investigations including reporting on all incidents and near misses
  • Performs monthly fire extinguisher and shower/eye wash station inspections and emergency exit alarm tests
  • Performs routine OSHA audits with EHS Manager
  • Performs storm water collections, environmental audits, and inspections
  • Identifies chemicals that needs SDS sheets and collects them if needed
  • Medic First Aid/CPR/AED trainer
  • Supports Maintenance Department with but not limited to the following: Preventative maintenance, cleaning and basic repair of building and facilities, tools, and equipment, including basic plumbing work, painting, floor repair and upkeep, and electrical repairs.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; 2-3 or more years of previous EH&S/maintenance experience and applicable Bachelors' degree preferred.
  • Experience with RCRA, Storm Water Operator preferred.
  • OSHA-10 certified and/or willingness to obtain certification.

Physical demands:
o Frequent lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, stooping, squatting, pushing and pulling can be expected.
o Long periods of standing and walking may also be expected in this position.

Work environment:
o Exposure to typical manufacturing areas is required and will require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection.
o Manual dexterity and mobility to move within plant/area as assigned.
o Exposure to climate conditions must be able to withstand periods of heat and cold.
