We're looking for a driven, hands-on and innovative Managing Editor to join WEBTOON's Content Department. The Content Department is responsible for sourcing, developing, and delivering WEBTOON ORIGINALS. You will report directly to the Executive Managing Editor and will be responsible for building and managing a team of editors, with a creator-first mindset.

What You'll Do
  • Lead, hire and manage a team of editors to source, develop, and deliver engaging content that can grow the audience on WEBTOON
  • Foster a creative and productive work environment geared towards servicing the needs of the WEBTOON audience
  • Manage and direct pitch and development meetings
  • Provide guidance and resolve challenges editor(s) may face during acquisition, development, production, and publishing of a series
  • Oversee relationship with creators and IP partners
  • Handle incoming business inquiries for team's series
  • Represent the team in cross-departmental collaborations
  • Track and report data, performance, and production of the team's series
  • Set deadlines and ensure the overall quality team's series
  • Identify white space in the overall program and devise a long-term programming strategy
  • Regularly read series on WEBTOON ORIGINALS and CANVAS
  • Inspire and take new initiatives such as contests, seasonal anthologies, and newly formatted content
  • Conduct periodic competitive audits to report industry trend
  • Work with internal key stakeholders to update operational guidelines and policies as needed
Who You Are
  • 7+ years of experience in developing, editing or producing narrative stories or similar content for a publisher, preferably within publishing or digital media
  • Proven track record of managing and mentoring people
  • Familiar with webcomics including WEBTOON ORIGINALS
  • Solid understanding of the nature of digital comics: audience, formatting, art style, and production
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interest and awareness of pop-culture and youth culture
  • Practical knowledge of storytelling
  • Proficient in graphic software such as Photoshop and Clip Studio
  • A basic understanding of legal agreements and business terms for publishing
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once within a fast-paced environment
