Description

BASIC FUNCTION:

Provide transportation for preschool age children. Operate and maintain transportation vehicle with a working knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and community geography. Develop a working knowledge of performance standards, licensing regulations, service plans, and policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Education and Training: A high school diploma or GED; a valid Ohio driver's license and a driving history acceptable to agency insurer. Current CDL with bus endorsement preferred.
  2. Work Experience Required: Two years general driving experience required.
  3. Special Conditions: Able to lift 40 pounds; reach, bend, and move easily; able to work a flexible schedule. Must be 21 years of age.

Early Childhood Services Coordinator or designee

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Carry forth the Vision, Mission and Core Values of the Agency.
  2. Prompt punctual attendance is required.
  3. Transport children to, from center sites, and on field trips in a safe manner.
  4. Visually observe the health of each child as they get on the bus. Communicate with Head Teacher and Family Advocate any concerns noted.
  5. Ensure that each child is delivered to the care of a parent or parental-authorized designee upon leaving the bus.
  6. Ensure that no child is ever left unattended, following all procedures put in place to prevent a child from being left alone on a bus.
  7. Follow Fiscal Policy FI-03 telephone usage and driver handbook.
  8. Adhere to State of Ohio Motor Vehicle laws governing buses and agency policies.
  9. Maintain up to date child emergency files on bus and keep files confidential.
  10. Assure the safety of all children on the bus by monitoring and supervising individual children while en-route.
  11. Complete transportation list form daily, accounting by name of all children getting on and off the bus.
  12. Complete and submit required vehicle reports on time, including pre-trip inspections, accident reports, damage reports, mileage, maintenance sheets, and fire and tornado drills.
  13. Do routine maintenance on bus to assure the safe running of the vehicle.
  14. Maintain bus cleanliness, interior daily, exterior monthly.
  15. Train bus monitors. Ensure properly documented bus monitor training.
  16. Assist in the kitchen and in the classroom with children in order to ensure safety or maintenance of licensing requirements.
  17. Follow all child safety procedures, including walking the isle at the end of the route and turning sign.
  18. When requested, attend and participate in staff meetings.
  19. As needed, make appropriate entries into individual child case notes.
  20. Communicate all necessary information to the appropriate staff.
  21. Attend all training required by the agency.
  22. Maintain confidentiality in all areas for the children, families, and staff.
  23. Adhere to all agency and program policies.
  24. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

This is a part-year position that corresponds with our Head Start school year calendar, approximately August to May each school year. The hourly wage is $13.65 - $14.742. Hours per week are flexible and can be either 29 or benefit-eligible 40 hours per week.
