Each team member across the agency contributes to our ongoing success.Seeking Database Administrator to perform highly complex database and application administration work in the ERS Information Systems Division. Work involves defining, developing, maintaining, and monitoring integrated database system environments for ERS application areas. Work is primarily within a PeopleSoft environment running under IBM's AIX platform utilizing Oracle RDBMS. Works under limited direction of the Database Administrator Team with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. The ideal candidate has strong interpersonal and communications skills along with the ability to handle multiple projects that require focused attention to detail.Essential Functions includes, but is not limited to: Provides accurate and timely database support and administration for ERS applications, including Human Resources, Financials, Payroll, Benefits, and Pension.Insures the integrity, reliability and performance of the database environments for development, test and production systems.Provides accurate and timely technical support for application client/server and web environments, including development, test and production systems. Provides technical assistance and guidance to development, end-user and other staff.Installs, configures, upgrades, and patches database software, Peoplesoft/Peopletools Coordinates activities with vendors for timely implementation of software upgrades and maintenance.Performs application and database backup/recovery and cloning as required.Participates in the development and documentation of best practices, operating procedures, guidelines and metrics, and provides quality control through the application of standards and by ensuring that requirements are met. Analyzes existing procedures for efficiency and effectiveness.Evaluates and recommends system and database management software and supporting tools. Assesses future information requirements in order to develop long-range, comprehensive database plans.Required Minimum Qualifications: Your application for employment must reflect how you meet each of the following minimum qualifications:Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in data processing, computer science, management information systems, business or related field; or attainment of a diploma from a two-year technical school with specialization in computer technology. Each year of related experience over the required minimum may be substituted for one year (30 semester hours) of required college credit.Seven (7) years experience in progressively difficult technical computer systems support roles, including four (4) years experience as an Oracle database administrator. Two (2) years experience in the performance tuning of Oracle database environments.Preferred Qualifications: Your application for employment should reflect how you meet the following preferred qualifications: Five (5) years of experience as an Oracle database administrator.Three (3) years experience in the performance tuning of Oracle database environments.Four (4) years working with system and database management tools. Two (2) years experience working with Unix.One (1) year experience supporting PeopleSoft environments and using PSADMIN tool.Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager, RMAN, and Toad. Oracle SQL Developer.One (1) year experience as a MSSQL Server database administrator.
