Overview

Halifax Health is seeking a Cybersecurity Analyst for the IT - Security Department.

Summary

The Cybersecurity Analyst provides consultation and assistance to monitor and provide security for our networks, devices and data to include analyzing Halifax security requirements; designing and developing reports and presentations; troubleshooting and resolving logs issues; training users; and, writing user documentation.

Job Qualifications
  • Requires college training equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in a security related, technology, business or health-related field, or equivalent technical training.
  • Requires three years of experience in an operational or IT-related analyst role to gain exposure to security technical needs for healthcare computer systems and business operations.
  • An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience may be acceptable.
  • Requires skills in the following areas:

  • Requirements gathering and documentation
  • Security technology and tools
  • Desirable experience in the following areas:
    • Project Management
    • Security technology and tools
    • Report writing and logging of issues
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan and teach user training sessions and make oral and written presentations to project teams and management.
  • Represent IT Security and training in one on one interactions, departmental meetings, or committees.
  • Identify malicious or anomalous activity based on event data from implemented systems.
  • Perform routine analysis of Security activity within Halifax, both behavior and technically.
  • Perform analysis of log files and data outputs.
  • Work with other teams to identify, resolve, and mitigate vulnerabilities in their systems.
  • Perform analysis of log files and data outputs.
  • Perform triage of incoming issues using ticket tracking system.
  • Provide tuning recommendations of security tools.
  • Produce and review metrics for security events.
  • Stay up-to-date with trends in the information security community including new vulnerabilities, methodologies, and products.
  • Create Security awareness campaigns to develop a security focused environment throughout Halifax.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
