The Boeing Airplane In-Service Safety Engineering team is seeking a Airplane Safety Engineering Support Analyst (Associate, Mid-Level or Senior) to join our team in Everett, Washington.

Airplane Safety Engineering (ASE) is responsible for overseeing review of in-service fleet issues along with airplane level design safety activities for new Boeing commercial airplanes. Using risk assessments, sophisticated analysis methods, data analytics, in-service lessons learned, and a strong understanding of airplane level functional and logical architectures, ASE works with wider design organizations like Airplane Systems, Propulsion, Reliability and Maintainability, Interiors, and Structures to ensure product safety at the airplane level.

This position involves placement of successful candidates on the In-Service Safety Team, supporting all in production airplanes, including 787, 777, 767, 747, and 737.

This position offers the potential to broaden skills and experience across multiple engineering disciplines such as airplane propulsion systems, passenger interior architectures, airframe structures and airplane flight systems. The successful associate candidate will have:

  • Ability and willingness to take ownership of work activities to ensure they are completed accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Monitor the FAA Rulemaking public notifications.
  • Coordinate and communicate Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) comments across organizations and functions for any safety related rulemaking.
  • Coordinate and communicate to relevant program leadership when the release of rulemaking impacts their program.
  • Maintain archives of safety presentations, decision logs, assumptions, and event rate libraries.
  • Research, develop, document, and coordinate standard probabilities and event rates for use in risk assessments.
  • Coordinate to develop and maintain safety dashboards and information summaries.
  • Coordinating safety issue and lessons learned discussions and regulatory action correspondence such as Service Bulletin, Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM)/Airworthiness Directive (AD) action and safety lessons learned submittals with the FAA.
  • Coordinating with Boeing Service Related Problem (SRP) teams in developing corrective action compliance times.
  • Helping with project management and integration across organizations and functions utilizing project management tools such Azure DevOps or Adobe Workfront.

This position allows some telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at Everett, Washington.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree in a technical field

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • 3+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Project Management Certification
  • 2+ years of experience in Risk Assessment and Management
  • 2+ years of experience with commercial airplane certification, safety requirements and procedures
  • Experience with Continued Operational Safety reporting processes per 14 CFR 21.3 requirements
  • Experience in Human Factors risk analysis
  • Pilots license

Typical Education & Experience:

Associate (Level 2)

Technical bachelor s degree and typically 2 or more years related work experience or a Master s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Mid-Level (Level 3)

Technical bachelor s degree and typically 5 or more years related work experience or a Master s degree with typically 3 or more years or a PhD degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study.

Senior (Level 4)

Technical bachelor s degree and typically 9 or more years related work experience or a Master s degree with typically 7 or more years or a PhD degree with typically 4 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
